Peak Milk retracts its advertisement and apologizes to Christians for its “offensive” Easter advertisement

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, the company that makes Peak Milk, has pulled the Peak Milk Easter web advertisement and apologized to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for utilizing a metaphor involving Jesus Christ’s crucifixion to market their product on Good Friday.

Recall that CAN had encouraged the company to take down the advertisement and apologize to Christians in order to avert legal action and product boycotts by its constituents.

Ore Famurewa, Executive Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc (Corporate Affairs), apologized for the Peak Brand’s Good Friday social media post in a letter to Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, dated April 10, 2023.

We hereby reiterate our dedication to our unshakable purpose of strengthening Nigeria while upholding the respect of all religion laws, precepts, and rules, the letter says. Please accept our sincere apologies once more, and we promise not to let this happen again. Accept my sincere regards and guarantees.
