Nigerian Startups Achieve Top Honors At Global Startup Awards Africa Summit In Addis Ababa

The Global Startup Awards (GSA) Africa Summit, hosted in Addis Ababa, recognized and celebrated the success of African startups, with three Nigerian startups emerging as winners. The event, organized in collaboration with the Global Innovation Initiative Group (GIIG) and various other institutions, acknowledged the achievements of these startups in the continent’s tech landscape.

Emergency Response Africa, a Nigerian startup, secured the top prize in the HealthTech category for its innovative approach in providing medical assistance within minutes. Awabah Nigeria, a digital technology company, was awarded the Best Newcomer for its efforts in promoting financial sustainability for informal sector workers. Dataleum Limited, another Nigerian startup, was acknowledged for its exceptional work in tech training, receiving the Best Edtech award.

The event served as a platform for these startups to gain visibility and potential investment opportunities. The winners will also have the chance to engage with the GIIG Africa Fund, demonstrating the commitment of the organizers to support and nurture African solutions to global challenges.

The event received support from various partners, including UNICEF Ethiopia, UNDP Ethiopia, and Grant Thornton Ethiopia, among others, underscoring the collaborative effort to promote the African startup ecosystem.
