The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited made public the selection of Olufemi Soneye as its Chief Corporate Communications Officer on Thursday. This declaration was communicated through a message on X, previously known as Twitter, where Soneye was described as an accomplished journalist with extensive experience in both full-time and freelance roles.
“We are pleased to introduce Olufemi Oladapo Soneye as our new Chief Corporate Communications Officer. Mr. Soneye, who has worked for some of the most reputable publications in Nigeria, Australia, and the United States of America, will be leading our corporate communications team,” the company stated. It also emphasized that his responsibilities would encompass enhancing the company’s brand presence, spearheading strategic communications initiatives, and managing stakeholders effectively.
According to the company, the newly appointed CCCO holds memberships in distinguished organizations such as the Nigerian Union of Journalists, National Association of Black Journalists, Society of Professional Journalists, and the Guild of Corporate Online Media Publishers. “Soneye previously served as the President of the Nigerian Media Practitioners, Washington, D.C. We eagerly anticipate his valuable contributions to our company,” the oil firm added.
Soneye takes over the position previously held by Garba-Deen Muhammad, who was recently instructed to retire alongside other senior officials of the company.
