300 young entrepreneurs are slated to be granted N90 million in equipment support by the MTN Foundation, following the successful completion of the sixth phase of the ICT and Business Skills training. The announcement of the selected entrepreneurs took place during a virtual closing ceremony held on Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Notable dignitaries such as Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Dr. William Alo, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Jonas Nzeagwu, the Chief Technology Officer of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion, as well as various other officials and executives from MTN, graced the event, alongside the training participants and partners.
In his address during the ceremony, Governor Godwin Obaseki urged the entrepreneurs to continually enhance the skills they have acquired and emphasized the importance of giving back to society. He also commended MTN for its consistent support, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the company provided essential resources to facilitate remote learning for students in Edo State.
Dennis Okoro, the Director of the MTN Foundation, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to fostering digital inclusion and congratulated all the entrepreneurs who took part in the training.
Furthermore, Dr. William Alo, Jonas Nzeagwu, and Chinwe Okoli, among others, shared words of encouragement and congratulations with the participants during the ceremony.
The ICT and Business Skills training initiative was specifically tailored to equip Nigerian entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 with digital skills essential for the growth of their businesses. This year’s program, in collaboration with Meta and Microsoft, targeted 3000 entrepreneurs in Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Kebbi, Niger, and Yobe states.
