MTN Nigeria Informs CIOs on the Benefits of Cloud Computing

MTN Nigeria invited Chief Information Officers from various corporate and public organizations for lunch on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Four Points by Sheraton in Victoria Island, as part of the 2023 IDC West Africa CIO Summit.

On Thursday, 22nd June 2023, MTN Nigeria hosted a lunch for Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from various private and public organizations. The event took place during the 2023 IDC West Africa CIO Summit at Four Points by Sheraton in Victoria Island.

The main focus of the interactive session, titled “Enabling Growth in the Digital Economy,” was to explore different cloud computing services. Members of MTN Nigeria’s Enterprise Business Division and the CEO of Chenosis, a subsidiary of MTN, delved into these services, highlighting Nigeria’s preparedness to embrace technology for business growth.

During the engagement with the CIOs, the MTN team addressed the digital economy, discussed the challenges hindering its growth, and presented solutions developed by the technological giant to tackle these challenges.

The digital economy is revolutionizing conventional engagement and transactions, while also fostering increased economic value. With MTN’s transition from a telecommunications company to a technology-focused enterprise, they can now offer a range of products and services that contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.

Akinbulejo Onabolu, Head of Enterprise Segments Management at MTN Nigeria, emphasized the need for collaboration between the government, private sector, and civil society to overcome the obstacles associated with investing in digital infrastructure. He stated, “At MTN, we firmly believe that Nigeria can harness the full potential of its digital economy through initiatives such as financial inclusion, investments in robust digital infrastructure, the development of digital skills, enhanced cybersecurity measures, and enabling regulations.”

Saad Syed, CEO of Chenosis, also spoke during the lunch, expressing their commitment to unlocking the vast potential in Nigeria and across Africa. He highlighted the significant youth population in Africa, which is the largest globally, and their desire to create and innovate. He stated, “Our aim is to provide smart, ambitious individuals with the necessary tools and guidance to change the world.”
