Dr Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner (NDPB) has been appointed to Forbes Technology Council for 2023.
Scott Gerber, the founder of Forbes Councils, expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming Dr. Olatunji to the Council. He emphasized that Forbes Councils aims to bring together accomplished leaders from various industries to create a carefully curated network driven by social capital. This network is designed to assist each member in professional growth and enable them to have a significant impact on the business world.

Dr. Vincent Olatunji holds a doctorate degree in Geography and Planning from the University of Lagos. He is a Certified Public Private Partnership Specialist (IP3 Specialist) and a PECB Certified Data Protection Officer. With a track record of delivering impactful results, Dr. Olatunji has excelled in building strong relationships across sectors and achieving tangible outcomes. He has demonstrated leadership by successfully leading teams, conducting extensive research, developing effective policies, and implementing strategic initiatives at various levels of government in Nigeria.
His areas of expertise encompass driving human growth and process transformation. Additionally, he possesses highly developed skills in negotiation, networking, and public speaking. Having served in the public sector for over 30 years, Dr. Olatunji brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to the Forbes Technology Council.
Dr. Olatunji began his tenure at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in 2002, progressing through various departments until he became a director in 2014. In 2016, he assumed the role of Acting Director General. Before his appointment as the pioneer National Commissioner of NDPB in February 2022, he worked as the Director of eGovernment Development and Regulations at NITDA. During this time, he led a formidable team that successfully implemented various initiatives to drive Nigeria’s digital transformation. As Nigeria’s Data Protection Ombudsman, Dr. Vincent Olatunji has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and frameworks aligned with international standards, thereby enhancing Nigeria’s and Africa’s position in the global data protection landscape.
Dr. Olatunji has participated in numerous Capacity Building programs covering diverse areas such as Public Sector Management, Project Planning and Management, Digital Transformation, and Data Protection, among others. He is a member of multiple expert committees and has represented Nigeria in various local and international engagements.
Furthermore, Dr. Vincent Olatunji has received several awards from both public and private sector organizations. These accolades include the GNC Digital Hall of Fame Award of Lifetime Recognition for his exceptional contributions to emerging technology for development initiatives in Africa in 2023. He was also recognized as one of the top 50 Digital Economy Enablers in Nigeria by IT Edge News Africa in February 2023 and listed among the 100 Leading Telecom and ICT Personalities in Nigeria by the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria in April 2018. In addition, he has been honored with the University of Lagos Alumni Association’s Award of Outstanding Commitment in July 2017 and the Ekiti State University Alumni Association’s Award of Eminent Personality in June 2018. Moreover, Ekiti State University conferred upon him a Doctor of Public Administration (HC) in June 2018.
