Guinness World Records Yet to Confirm Nigeria’s Hilda Baci’s Longest Cooking Record!!!

Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as “Hilda Baci”, a native of Akwa Ibom, is yet to break the record for the longest cooking time by an individual according to the Guiness World Records Official Twitter page and official website. The previous record was held by Indian chef Lata Tondon, who cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds in Rewa, in 2019. The announcement was made on Tuesday through an official statement published on the organization’s website and twitter account. The statement mentioned that Baci aimed to claim the record title for the longest cooking marathon (individual), which was currently held by Lata Tondon with a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes.

Starting on Thursday and continuing until Monday, Hilda cooked non-stop for an astounding 100 hours, surpassing her initial target of 96 hours. It is reported that she prepared 55 recipes and over 100 meals during this marathon cooking session. The statement also mentioned that officials from the record-keeping body would review the evidence to verify Hilda’s achievement as a new record.

Hilda Baci is not new to cooking competitions as she was a participant in the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021 to determine the best between Nigerian Jollof and Ghana Jollof.

The highly talented 27-year-old chef made Nigeria proud by winning the competition and walking away with a grand prize of $5000.

The British reference body expressed their anticipation in receiving the evidence for their Records Management Team to review and confirm the official status of the record. Initially scheduled to conclude at 4 pm on the specified day, Hilda surpassed her target and achieved a remarkable record time of 100 hours.
