Breaking: No More VIP escorts to polling Units by Police Officers

Any officer who is proven to have disobeyed this order will face disciplinary action.

For the elections on February 25 and March 11, the police have forbidden its agents and other security staff from accompanying governors, ministers, and other key officials to polling places.

This was said by the Osun command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement in Osogbo on Wednesday.

” Any officer found to have flouted this directive will be subjected to disciplinary actions. Also, the use of sirens, revolving lights, and tinted car windows by unauthorized citizens during the election period will not be allowed,” said the police statement.

She added, “The command also warns other security outfits/organizations that are not constitutionally empowered to participate in the election duty to steer off the electoral process. Any organization/groups found flouting this would be sanctioned by the extant laws.”

The police also released hotlines during the election, including 08039537995, 08075872433 and 08123823981.
