The Federal Government has designated Monday, June 12, 2023 as a national holiday in observance of this year’s Democracy Day.
Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, issued a statement on Thursday in Abuja, conveying the congratulations of the Federal Government to all Nigerians on the occasion.
In her statement, Dr. Akinlade acknowledged that Nigeria’s democratic journey has been marked by both smooth sailing and challenging times. However, she emphasized that the ship of State, along with its institutions and, most importantly, the Nigerian people, have remained resolute in upholding the principles of democratic governance.
Dr. Akinlade invited Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to take this momentous occasion as an opportunity to recognize the progress achieved, celebrate the significant milestones crossed, and eagerly anticipate a brighter future for the country’s democracy.
