Governor Wike Issues a 48-hours Quit Notice to AIT

African Independent Television (AIT) owners DAAR Communications have been given a 48-hour notice by River State Governor Nyesom Wike to remove a portion of their Port Harcourt facilities that house AIT/Raypower FM.

According to a letter dated March 20, 2023 and signed by Mrs. Ebere Dennis Emenike, Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Works, the government stated that the notice was necessary in order to demolish the building and begin construction on the proposed Government Residential Area (GRA) Phase 5 in Ozuoba.

The location of the Ozuoba transmission station built by AIT and Raypower Radio Station has caused conflict between the Rivers State Government and Daar Communication Plc.

Through a motion approved by the State House of Assembly, the state just claimed the land.

Part of the letter read: “Following the imminent commencement of the above project, all structure(s) impacting on the right-of-way of the project have been earmarked for demolition including your own.

“Consequently, you are by this notice requested to remove such structure(s) within 48 hours to allow for speedy progress at work please”.
