Guinness World Records Officially Announces Hilda Baci as New Record Holder

Guinness World Records on Tuesday announced Hilda Baci the new record holder for the longest cooking by an individual.

In a statement on their website, GWR confirmed that Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record with a remarkable time of 93 hours and 11 minutes. The 26-year-old Nigerian chef embarked on her culinary journey on Thursday, May 11, and cooked non-stop until Monday, May 15. Throughout the four-day cooking marathon, Hilda managed to prepare over 100 pots of food.

An official adjudicator of the Guinness World Records, Mark Mckinley, announced Baci’s confirmation in a video on Tuesday. The official also posed with Baci’s certificate while the GWR followed the video with an official statement.

“Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes,” GWR said in a statement released on Tuesday, one month after Baci’s adventurous cooking.

Hilda initially aimed to set a record of 100 hours, but due to a mistake during one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt, approximately seven hours were deducted from her final total. Nonetheless, her achievement remains outstanding and deserving of recognition.
