Africa’s Movie Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) lit up the skies of Lagos on the evening of Saturday, May 20, 2023, dazzling attendees with its magnificent array of African actors, filmmakers, and cinematic masterminds.

The AMVCAs, hosted annually by Multichoice, have become a pinnacle of Africa’s cultural diversity, honoring exceptional productions and performances that have captivated audiences across the continent and beyond. Now in its 9th year, the three-day event served as a melting pot of creativity and inspiration, showcasing the best of African talent.

The prestigious awards night took place at the renowned Eko Convention Centre, marking the culmination of the three-day event lineup proudly supported by Interswitch Group’s brands – Quickteller, the leading consumer digital payments platform, and Verve, Africa’s foremost payment cards and digital tokens brand.

Tomijogun Ogunlesi, Interswitch’s Group Head of Brands and Communications, joined esteemed film industry figures and senior representatives from the corporate sector in presenting two awards – Best Movie (Drama/Comedy) West Africa and Best Television Series (Drama/Comedy), adding to the grandeur of the occasion.

However, the AMVCAs went beyond the realm of awards. This year’s event lineup also featured a cultural exhibition and runway show that showcased the opulent designs and vibrant colors that are inherently African. Additionally, an exciting after-party concluded the festivities.

Interswitch is a staunch supporter of Africa, its people, and its industries, including the creative arts. They believe that the growth of the creative arts industry not only creates jobs and stimulates the economy but also serves as a medium to share Africa’s stories with the world. The AMVCAs, with its array of talented stars, filmmakers, and television producers, provided the perfect platform for this purpose. Quickteller and Verve’s sponsorship of the 9th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards underscored their commitment to supporting Africa’s creative landscape.
